B'NAI MITZVAH

Bar/Bat Mitzvah marks the transition of a Jewish child to adulthood; a time when children assume responsibilities and rewards for their own religious practice and learning. On celebrating Bar/Bat Mitzvah , our children come to understand their place within the Beth Miriam congregation and within the Jewish People. Jewish learning is a lifelong pursuit. Celebrating Bar/Bat Mitzvah is not, then, the culmination of study, but rather the beginning of adult Jewish learning. Students no longer simply receive information and training; now they're challenged and taught how to explore ideas and make sense of life through Jewish texts and Jewish values. Celebrating Bar/Bat Mitzvah is the celebration of the pursuit of Jewish learning and practice.
Bar and Bat Mitzvah Requirements

  • All ceremonies take place in the temple (but in extreme circumstances this may be waived)
  • Interfaith families must be raising their child(ren) exclusively as Jews without any other religious instruction or participation in non-Jewish religious ceremonies
