A Note from Rabbi Cy Stanway

I feel honored and proud to serve Beth Miriam since 1998 and I welcome you wholeheartedly to our temple's website.
My rabbinate is about teaching and teaching has many styles. I teach by helping to build community. I teach by music. I teach by working with others to inspire.
Beth Miriam is not a one-man or one-woman operation: it is a team effort where we have built -- and every day continue to build -- a congregation of educated and enthusiastic Jews. We have all created a sacred place - not just physically, but spiritually as well. But, as the Talmud says, "It is not incumbent upon you to finish the work but neither are your permitted to refrain from it." The work at Beth Miriam is never done. There is always something else we can do. Inertia hurts communities, especially religious communities.
All the staff and volunteers at Beth Miriam work hard every day to explore new ideas and discover new angles for existing ones. It is truly an exciting place to be. I encourage you to be a part of this congregation and community.
I want to personally welcome you and your family to the temple. I invite your questions and encourage you to email me or visit me at the temple. My door is always open.
Until we meet, shalom.
