My project was based on one of my interests: reading. I wanted little kids to become avid readers. But I did not want them to become as avid a reader as I, because I don’t want them to suffer from sleep deprivation. So I went to my old nursery school and discussed with the principal there about my project. Thankfully, she agreed and told me that I should come on Tuesdays after school. Enthusiastically, I began reading to the little kids. Most were about my size. They were thrilled that somebody was reading to them instead of telling them to color and eat snacks. Piquing their interest in reading was my goal, and it was accomplished. On each day, they would stare longingly at the door with all of their chairs set up. Almost as soon as I arrived, they swung open the door and inquired about which books I had brought. I sincerely hope that these kids will enjoy reading for the rest of their lives. Part two of my project was donating books to the nursery school. Over spring break, my mom and I rummaged through boxes and boxes of books in our basement. Just looking at some of the books sent memories flooding back to me. Reading has done so much for me and I hope that it does just as much for my little friends at Tiny Treasures.
