Temple Beth Miriam’s -Renaissance’s Spring Fling
Sunday, May 18, 2008, is the date for Renaissance’s “Spring Fling”. We’ve scheduled an all day adventure as we journey back to our roots. This event is opened to all Temple members and interested community members who are 50 or over.*
11:30 – Meet at the Seastreak Ferry Line at the Highlands near Connor Restaurant. Parking is free and the cost of the round trip will be $34/person. Make sure to bring lunch so we can all eat together as we cruise to N.Y.C. (Ferry will depart promptly at 12:00)
12:40 – Arrive in the city. At this time, we will leisurely walk to the Lower East Side or you can take a cab. (It’s a pleasant and interesting walk through NY history – approximately 1 ½ to 2 miles.)
2:00 – Once we arrive in the Lower East Side, you have your choice of activities.
Take a “Walking Tour” of the Lower East Side - $17 charge , $13 for seniors
Visit Eldridge Street Synagogue – Adults $10 and Seniors $8
Independent time for you to explore, eat, or shop. Grab a knish, bialy, or pickle. Bring some Jewish Soul Food home for the family.
5:00 – Diner at Katz’ – What’s for dinner? Chopped liver moistened with rendered chicken fat, fluffy kneydlech swimming in chicken soup, hot knishes, mushroom and barley soup, kasha varnishkes with hot gravy, potato kugel, and strudel. Last but not least, Katz’ corned beef and pastrami, and of course don’t forget to get a “salami for your boy in the army” Let’s esen – let’s eat!
6:30 – Walk off dinner as we stroll back to the pier for our 8:00 return trip. Share stories with new and old friends as we journey back to New Jersey.
*All purchases will be made on May 18, 2008
