FIXING THE WORLD: TIKKUN OLAM
TBM Gifts of Love
TBM has made a real difference in the lives of children and new moms at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.

Remember when we collected gifts for the kids for the trip to Israel?  We got hundreds of pounds of toys, dolls and  games and we took them all to Israel and presented them to the staff at Hadassah.  And, as a special touch, we also gave more than 20 handmade blankets made by our own Knitting Group, each with a label that says "Made with Love from Temple Beth Miriam, Elberon, NJ."  The gifts made the nurse cry and the feeling of knowing that we brought warmth made us all feel that we we had done something special.

Yashar Kochachem to all who donated games and toys and stuffed animals.  Yashar Kochachen to the ladies of the Knitting Group whose product this very minute is wrapped around a Jewish or Arab baby in Hadassah Hospital.  And Yashar Kochachem to everyone on the trip who found a little extra space in their luggage to carry a bit of their heart with them.
About our Kishrei HaLev (Connections of the Heart) Program

2007-2008 is our second year of our Kishrei HaLev program in which the B'nai Mitzvah students participate.

As part of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah program, the students have the opportunity to work with a member of the Social Action Committee who participate in the Kishrei HaLev program. Kishrei HaLev (Connections of the Heart) enables our students to reach out to others in need with creative and innovative ways to do tzedakah. There have been some wonderful ideas and so, under the tutelage of a Kishrei HaLev advisor, the students help to fix the world.

The past year saw some extraordinary projects, as you can see from the list on the left.  This year promises even more creative and impactful ways our teens change the world.
